Big roofs on ag and distribution buildings
A lot of Shafter's square footage sits under metal and flat roofs: ag shops and equipment barns, packing and processing buildings, cold rooms, and large warehouses. These roofs share a few headaches. Metal panels expand and contract with every hot day and cool night, which works fasteners loose and opens up seams and laps. Large flat roofs collect water at drains when the winter rain finally comes. And a bare metal roof turns the building below into an oven by July.
When a big roof starts leaking, replacing the whole thing isn't always the answer. We look at the roof, tell you honestly whether it can be restored, and lay out the options in a written, itemized estimate.
Spray foam and coatings over metal roofs
For a sound metal roof, spray foam is often the practical fix. The roof is cleaned and prepped, loose or rusted spots are dealt with, and foam is sprayed over the panels in one seamless layer that covers the seams and fasteners and adds insulation. The foam is then protected with a roof coating. We use Mule-Hide silicone and acrylic coatings, and depending on the system a coating can last in some cases up to 20 years. When the coating wears, it can be cleaned and recoated instead of starting over.

TPO and repairs for warehouses and shops
For flat warehouse and shop roofs, TPO is a durable white single-ply option that reflects summer sun. We install new TPO roofs and repair existing ones, including split seams, punctures and loose flashing. For leaks on any commercial roof, see commercial roof repair. We plan the work around your operation and spell out the schedule in the estimate. More on our commercial roofing.
Field dust and roofs out in the country
Out here, dust from fields and dirt roads settles on everything, including the roof. On a white coating or TPO roof, a layer of dirt cuts how much sunlight the roof reflects, and debris washed into drains and scuppers is a common cause of ponding. An occasional inspection and cleaning goes a long way toward keeping a reflective roof working the way it should.
Homes in Shafter
Shafter has older homes near downtown and plenty of newer neighborhoods. For houses we do roof replacements (a typical home re-roof takes about three days) and roof repairs, with shingle products including GAF, Owens Corning and Malarkey. We also repair tile and do lift-and-relay with new underlayment, add TPO or coatings on flat sections, and help with insurance claims after storm damage. See residential roofing.

Shafter roofing FAQ
Can spray foam go over my metal ag building without removing the roof?
Often, yes. If the metal is structurally sound, foam can be sprayed right over it after cleaning and prep. We check first for rust, loose panels and damaged areas that need attention, and we will tell you if the roof is past that point.
Can you work on our warehouse while it stays open?
We plan roof work around your operation. Access, staging and the schedule are spelled out in your written estimate so there are no surprises for your crew or your customers.
How far is Shafter from your office?
Shafter is about 20 miles from our Bakersfield office, roughly a half-hour drive. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, and someone is on call after hours.
